“The decisions you make, can shape your students future”

MAKE IT MATTER

Chukwuemeka Ekeowa has  one guiding question, 'What am I doing right now to add value to the society I live in?'

He has spent over a decade teaching in schools across London and the South East of England. His life motto is 'Make it Matter'.

Chukwuemeka listens to the words of his students, acknowledging that they have creative ideas to offer.   He explains that students give him invaluable lessons everyday and consequently believes that 'it is not what he knows as a teacher that matters, but how clever he makes his students feel'.

A need to give back, was the catalyst for Chukwuemeka making notes during his teacher training year, on the challenges he faced and strategies he found for addressing them. These notes were for other trainees and is the foundation of his writing career. It is this desire to add value to the life of others that continues to be at the heart of his writings.

In his book ‘Gorilla Masks THE TEACHER TRAINNG YEAR’, Chukwuemeka explores what matters to children, for them to engage in learning.

Why Gorilla Masks as a title?

Gorilla Masks represents the challenging behaviours and not the students. This is to promote an understanding that behind every face, is a child that wants to be seen, heard and understood.
